About the AuthorPaul was the seventh child born to Herbert and Emma Eisenbraun on their homestead two and a half miles northeast of Creighton, South Dakota. When he was three, the family moved to a 2000-acre ranch along the Cheyenne River. Here three more siblings were born. At this remote location, attending school was difficult as harsh weather, inadequate transportation and poor roads were reoccurring challenges to daily school attendance. After ten years of struggles with unresolved school issues, Herbert and Emma moved to Wall with their six youngest children. In Wall, five of these children finished public schooling through the twelfth grade. After high school, Paul enrolled at Concordia Teacher's College in Seward, Nebraska. Here he met Kathryn Wisroth of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. After graduating from Concordia College, they were married and accepted teaching positions at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Columbus, Indiana. In 1975, Paul received his Master of Science in Education degree from Indiana University and holds a lifetime teaching license for the state of Indiana. Finally retiring after 35 years of teaching, Paul accepted the challenge of writing "DOWN ON THE RANCH," a book relaying stories of his childhood days. It is his hope, that these stories and illustrations will evoke gratitude for daily blessings and revive pleasant memories for many readers, of days gone by. |
